Grammar Lesson
Before I learned
to live in the Now,
I roamed at will
through tangled fields
of long ago
and far away
and sometime soon.
Until,
a funny thing happened:
the past grew large
the future small
and roaming
isn't safe at all.
My, my,
hot stoves and pot holes.
Now,
Now is everything.

I'm so intrigued by the title "Grammar Lessons". What does it mean?
My favorite line is
"My my
hot stoves and pot holes"
I feel melancholy and sweet tiredness now after reading...
love,
Aileen
Thinking of tenses as part of the structure of language. Past, present and future are in the poem.
The past and future are referred to as hot stoves and pot holes, the present, may be a safer place to be as one gets older. Or not.
